Enzo and Rey: The Gentle Giants Who Changed Our Lives
Early in 2023, we made a decision that would change our lives forever, reshaping the rhythm of our home, our routines, and, most importantly, our hearts. In the chilly month of February, we welcomed not one, but two Great Danes into our family. Enzo and Rey came bounding into our lives with the kind of joyful energy that simply cannot be ignored. From the moment their paws touched our floor, it felt as though they had always belonged.
They are massive, of course. Over time, they grew into athletic, stunning companions. Towering, graceful, and impossible to miss, they turn heads wherever they go. Yet what amazed us most was not their size, but the size of their hearts. Enzo and Rey are the most giving, attentive, and emotionally intuitive companions we have ever known. There is something deeply soulful about the way they interact with us. A glance, a gentle nudge, or the way they settle beside you seems to say, I'm here. I've got you.
In 2025, Enzo and Rey welcomed a litter of puppies into the world, creating yet another life-changing experience for our family. Helping them raise ten sweet, precious little lives felt remarkably similar to raising our own children. We watched in awe as those tiny puppies grew, almost in the blink of an eye, into young dogs ready for adventures of their own. One by one, they left to begin new lives with loving families.
All but two.
Ember and Brees stayed with us, helping our family grow even stronger. Then, just a few months ago, we welcomed the final piece of our pack, a wonderful fawn male named Kieran.
Today, our home is filled with five Great Danes and more love than we could have imagined.
Living with five Great Danes is like living in the eye of a beautiful storm. Their energy is a force of nature, sometimes chaotic, always full of life. It surrounds us every day, lifting us when we are tired, comforting us when we are down, and reminding us that joy can be found in the simplest moments. It is impossible to stay still when gentle giants are leaning into you with excitement simply because you walked into the room.
They remind us to move.
To laugh.
To embrace life's messy, beautiful moments.
Most of all, they remind us to love, big and loud and often.
